Blanco is located on U.S. Highway 281, twelve miles south of Johnson City. With the larger cities of Austin and San Antonio just an hour away, Blanco enjoys a refreshingly slower pace. It has all the charm and friendliness of a small Texas town. Locals gather regularly at the Blanco Bowling ClubCafé for coffee and pause to chat on the town square.The Club is only one of eleven in the state with non-automated, nine-pin bowling.

The Blanco River, with its beautiful blue-green water, meanders through its southern edge. It provides not only the community’s drinking water but also its most popular tourist attraction. The river is the focal point of Blanco State Park, one of only a few state parks with camping facilities located within a city. The town’s majestic centerpiece is the old Blanco County courthouse. Built in 1885, it currently serves as a visitor’s center and community hall.

Blanco offers music, art and historic options that visitors and residents enjoy.
