Thirty miles north of San Antoniois the City of New Braunfels, a top tourist destination in Texas. New Braunfels was established in 1845 by Prince Carl of the Solms-Braunfels region of Germany. Its German influence can be seen from the street signs to the biergartens and the popular annual Wurstfest.

New Braunfels is the seat of Comal County and is situated along the Balcones Fault where the Texas Hill Country meets rolling prairie land.The Downtown Association and Main Street Project have led an aggressive redevelopment with business owners, professionals and resident’s involvement. Many citizens have chosen to live in the upper floors of recently renovated historic buildings in the downtown area.

The history of New Braunfels is extraordinary. Texas’ oldest bakery (Naegelin’s) and oldest hardware store (Henne) are located here. Gruene Hall, Texas’ oldest dancehall, offers up foot-stompin’ music on a daily basis in the historic district of Gruene. Next door is the popular Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar, located in the ruins of a 100-year old cotton ginon the bluff above the Guadalupe River. Numerous shops, eateries,craft beer, wineries and lodging are all in walking distance from each other in this fun little area.

Those looking for water sports don’t have to go far. The Comal and Guadalupe Rivers wind their way through parks in town. Schlitterbahn, the number one water park in the country, has slides, rides and a wave pool on over 70 acres.Canyon Lake is just minutes away.
New Braunfels is centrally located in the Hill Country off the I-35 corridor. It is a wonderful place to live and enjoy life to its fullest.
