La Grange Texas is a beautiful Central Texas town nestled on the Colorado River with lots of cultural and historical ties to the German and Czech cultures. The town has a wonderful mix of historic and period homes as well as modern residences and just a few miles outside of town there are wonderful ranches large and small throughout the rolling prairies and woodlands.

La Grange is located in Fayette County southwest of Austin just off Higway 71 and right on the Colorado River. La Grange is a great example of the small town Central Texas lifestyle nestled between some of the best cities in Texas – Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

Things to do in La Grange

If you are interested in history you can visit the Kreiche Brewery site on Monument Hill overlooking the Colorado River. Did you know that there are twelve mapped bike routes ranging from 18 to 60 miles? La Grange is rich in Czech and German heritage and you can learn more about that at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center just outside of town.

The La Grange Independent School District includes the Hermes Elementary School, La Grange Intermediate School, La Grange Middle School, and La Grange High School. The County Courthouse is a grand old building right in the middle of the downtown square for convenience. There is also an airport – Fayette Regional – with a 5000 ft. runway with expanded taxiways and VOR and GPS approach. There is a monthly fly-in and barbecue at the airport monthly.
