About Skyline Ranch
Skyline Ranch Estates is literally perched upon a cluster of hills three miles north of Wimberley and is one of Wimberley’s best subdivisions for view properties. With large land tracts of 2-10 acres, Skyline Ranch has a wonderful spread out feel where home owners are seen walking the neighborhood and soaking in the views of the Wimberley Valley down below.
Here, according to Bill Johnson’s book on Wimberley, one of the last battles between the Comanches and Texas Rangers was fought in what is known as the battle of “Indian Mott”. The conflict ended when the Rangers ran out of ammunition and went home. After the Comanches realized the Rangers had left they came out and buried their dead under large boulders.
Skyline Ranch Estates consists of some 102 lots on which 70+ homes have been built. Skyline Ranch Estates is served by the Wimberley I.S.D. and has a property owner’s association. To visit Skyline Ranch Estates from Wimberley, head north on RR 12 for three miles and turn right (east) on Skyline Drive and follow to the top of the hill.
