Ann Marie Skunda certainly took a leap of faith when she moved to Houston in 1978. Originally from Olean, a small, charming town located in Western New York, she traveled to Texas at the age of 21 with only $60.00 in her pocket and a heart full of ambition. Ann Marie made many lifelong friends in her new home, including one that would become her husband just four years later. You might say it was destiny that brought her to the Lone Star State.
Ann Marie and her husband Raymond set their roots in Houston, and in 1986, proudly welcomed their first son, Raymond Jr. (“Ray,” to avoid household confusion). In 1989, after 13 years in Houston, a work transfer brought the Skunda family to Orange in east Texas, which Ann Marie cites as being “quite an adjustment.” During their eight years in Orange, the growing family brought home their second son, Chad. In 1996, Raymond was once again transferred—this time to Wimberley—where they happily remain today.
I first met Ann Marie at the river, I was having a girls weekend and she came down there with her 4 dogs. My husband and I owned a lot in the same subdivision as Ann Marie so we both had river rights to the same river park. Ann Marie and my girlfriends of course proceeded to talk real estate and how much we all loved Wimberley. One of my friends actually bought a house from Ann Marie the next day.
Well since then there have been many real estate transactions that Ann Marie has helped me with. She helped my husband and me sell our home in Taylor. She found a builder here in Wimberley to build on our lot. Due to the sudden passing of my husband I needed to downsize from the home that we built. Ann Marie helped me find a lot in another subdivision where I proceeded to build a smaller home. After the home was completed I decided I did not want to move into it because I didn’t want to leave my present subdivision. I asked Ann Marie if she would sell the small home I just completed and she said no problem. She put it on the market one day and sold it the next day. I took my big house off the market.
A couple months later I bought a lot in my present subdivision from the same builder who built my big home. Upon completion of my home Ann Marie put my big house back on the market on a Friday and sold it on Sunday. My new house backs up to Ann Marie’s house…. we put a gate between our lots and the rest is history. ?? Needless to say she is much more than my Realtor.
Anne Marie Skunda skillfully ushered us through the sale of our unique property. Being an equestrian property with many different features it required her professional marketing skills which she applied artfully. Ann Marie made every aspect of our sale fun.
We bought an interim house with her help while building in Johnson City and are planning to list this house with her when our home is finished. We could say so many other wonderful things about Ann Marie but we decided to keep it brief.

We happened to find her number online when we were driving around looking at houses in Wimberley. She immediately met us at one of her properties on a Sunday. Right away, I knew she would be our realtor. She was honest and genuine, and we felt such a connection with her. Ann Marie not only sold my house in Buda in just a couple months, she sold my mother-in-law’s home on 30 acres (which seemed like an impossible task for realtors they’d used in the past), and my great aunt’s home, also in Buda. I wouldn’t recommend ANYONE else. She is THAT good. She will fight for you every step of the way. Buying and selling has such ups and downs, and Ann Marie really minimized the stress simply because of her expertise and knowledge.

Not only is she a top notch realtor, handling 4 deals in our family, we still get to be friends. We know we can count on her if we need her, even now. There is no one else we would recommend to anyone needing a realtor.
My husband and I decided to make a move to the Hill Country, unsure of exactly what city/area we wanted to live. Ann Marie worked with us for over a year, showing us property all over several surrounding counties. She has a very strong work ethic. She worked many weekends, including Sundays. She was very patient with us, even spending many hours in freezing rain on various properties we were viewing. We would highly recommend her as a realtor to others and now consider her a friend.

We were referred to Ann Marie by my brother and sister-in-law who used her to find their home in Wimberley several years ago. They told me that she was very kind, personable and attentive to detail. They were correct. We were expecting a transfer from Houston to Central Texas within the year. I made at least seven trips to Wimberley to look at homes with Ann Marie. She is unbelievably attentive to detail concerning the your expectations to the point that she can find attributes in a home that you didn’t even know yourself that you were looking for. She takes the time to get to know you and your desires to best match up home and homeowner. She was just as patient, kind and courteous on the last house we looked at as she was on the first. She was professional and personable, she even packed us a lunch on one outing because there were not any restaurants in the area! Ann Marie is honorably devoted to her family and when you chose Ann Marie as your realtor, you get that same devotion hands down, she goes to bat for ya! She is currently looking for a home for my father now in the same area, she’s our family realtor.
We arrived in Wimberley deciding to move here without ever seeing the town. Keller Williams was the first office we stopped into and that’s when we first met Ann Marie. We instantly her, and liked that she never pressured us into purchasing right away. We were unsure of the areas around town and she was always available for us. We finally decided to rent, until our home sold and she asked for nothing in return. Finally, having issues with the rent house that we had found on our own, she got us out and found another one for us. Again, getting nothing in return. Our house in Houston sold 6 months later. Ann Marie had informed other realtors what we were looking for and to keep an eye out. She got a call soon after, about one that was coming on the market. So we looked that same week and made an offer. We love our new home! She did a great job. We always felt she was in it for us, and not the commission. We recommend her to others all the time.
Debbie and I wish to thank you for your efforts in helping us find and purchase our home in Wimberley. As you know, we have transferred many times and have sold and bought a lot of houses and we can both truly say that no other realtor guided us through the buying process better than you. Searching for river front homes prior to our transfer being effective and then having those homes that we had found sold before our company would allow us to bid on them was certainly disappointing. But you worked very hard to find us alternatives and we are very happy with both the neighborhood and home that you helped us locate. We really enjoy the quiet secluded setting, the large lot and the great scenery and sunsets out the back windows. This really is a home that we can retire in if that works out in the future. And all of our children, spouses and grandkids love the place so maybe we can convince them to come visit us occasionally.
We not only appreciated your ability to find us a house. We appreciate your professional manner, your perceptive ability to understand what we were looking for and what our buying priorities were. You also provided good guidance on property values, potential re-sale issues, and bidding strategies.
In short, if we ever do decide to sell this house, we will check with you first on listing the property. And we could recommend you to other buyers seeking a realtor to work with.
