About Jonestown TX

Jonestown is a small place. There are a few businesses along FM 1431 in the heart of town, a new strip mall on the north end, and several restaurants and a gas/convenience store. If you want a small-town experience near Austin, it’s hard to find; Jonestown fits the bill. Jones Brothers Park Lake Travis/Sandy Creek Arm waterfront park is the premier and largest park in town. It has a couple boat ramps, basketball, soccer, baseball, picnic areas, and sand volleyball.  The other parks are: Laura Reed Park, Veterans Memorial Park right on FM 1431, Pecan Bottom, and Dave Reed Park.

Jonestown Waterfront and Hill Country Homes

There are many old, established lakefront cabins and homes — many of which are weekend getaways — that sell from time to time.  They are often renovated or torn down to make room for a modern structure with great lake access.  New developments are also popping up all along the shoreline.  Places like The Hollows (and large Hollows Marina), the Bluffs, Gregg Point (with its Easy Street Marina) and Northshore are most popular.  For folks who would rather just sit out on their porch and look for miles out over the Texas Hill Country, neighborhoods such as Vista Grande, Panoramic Hills, Fawn Hill, Jonestown Hills, White Rim Mountain, and Grandview Terrace.  Some of the waterfront communities have Texas Hill Country views from higher elevations.

Jonestown Location and Access

Jonestown gains its notoriety from its strategic location on the north shore of Lake Travis and proximity to Austin.  By car, take FM 1431 west from I-35 through Cedar Park.  To get to FM 1431 from Austin, there are several routes: I-35, Parmer Lane, Hwy. 183 and any of a number of a half dozen roads going north into Cedar Park from RM 620.  Jonestown can also be reached by boat on Lake Travis.  It is located at mile marker 37.
