About Avenue Lofts
Located at 410 E 5th St in Downtown Austin, the Avenue Lofts have about 38 condos. Avenue Lofts occupies a building that was originally the Texas State Building of Health Services. Pictures of the building in its art deco original form adorn the entryway. Between these pictures and the unique art deco exterior of the building, one gets a good sense of its historic nature.
The Lofts of Avenue Lofts
Avenue Loft condos are true lofts in that there are very few defined interior walls in each of the units (unless the owners built them after the condo’s completion.) Floors throughout are concrete. Ceilings are high and also concrete. Some of the units are one-story, some span two floors. Some lofts have original concrete pillars in their units and, in many cases, it’s fun to see where original floor plans might have differed from today’s.
Avenue Lofts Condo Amenities
As far as conversion go, the Avenue Lofts is lucky in that there was a bit of land with the building. The developers had enough room to put in an outdoor pool and a fitness room. Parking is outdoor in back of the building with a gated entrance. There are elevators all floors.
Avenue Lofts Location and Lifestyle
The east side of Downtown Austin has many things going for it. The Avenue Lofts is very near the E 6th Street Entertainment District and the Red River corridor. You can also find restaurants throughout this area of Downtown Austin and by crossing over I35 into East Austin. The Convention Center is two blocks south and the home to many interesting Austin events, including, most notably, SXSW. Just south of the Convention Center begins the Rainey St. District (home to many exciting new bars and restaurants). Then, there’s Lady Bird Lake, a great place to enjoy the water and relax!
