About Villa West Condos
Villa West Condos are sometimes overlooked by people searching Downtown Austin condos. First of all, they’re just outside the Realtor-used MLS Area DT designation (i.e. a Downtown Austin search). Secondly, they have a subtle presence. You might pass them everyday and not really know they’re there.
Villa West’s Location
The complex runs the full street width between W 5th and W 6th Streets on the block between Oakland Ave. and Powell St. – if you’re driving in or out of Downtown Austin from Mo-Pac on 5th or 6th, you’ve passed them. Units have addresses on both streets as there are entrances at both ends of the buildings. Besides being about six blocks from Whole Foods, this location is right in the midst of all the recent development that has occurred on this just west of Downtown Austin location. The Gables has built two apartment complexes recently that have retail on the first floor – bringing more restaurants and services. Plus, there are some bike paths that can lead you to Lady Bird Lake.
The Villa West Condo Complex
These condos may not be as hip as some of the newer condos, but they have a classical timelessness to them. Many people think they reflect the era the 30’s and 40’s, even though they were built in the 1981. The complex has two sides (north, south) connected by hallways on each floor. There are elevators and a community pool.

The units have at least 9’ ceilings and crown molding. Probably because of the era in which they were built, they don’t have that many smaller floor plans, meaning you might find a bit more space here. Most of the units have good light. Kitchens are a bit offset but are usually connected with living areas. There’s a nice balance to openness and how each space is used.
