About West University
West University is a popular neighborhood for University of Texas students and grad students. Students love to live in these homes as they are full of character and very close to campus.
Where is West University?
West University is located West of the UT campus. It is bordered by North Lamar and Guadalupe and runs 17 blocks north to south. Because most residents are affiliated with UT (usually students), commuting involves heading east on one of the neighborhood’s major arteries: 21st or 24th St. When residents need to travel north and south, they go west on 24th, which turns into Windsor and connects to MoPac.
West University Amenities
Being so close the University, there is never a dull moment. Catching a home football game is always fun, even if you just go and tailgate, though, if you’re a football fan, the stadium is definitely something to see. There are also several bars and restaurants along Guadalupe serving everything from Tex Mex to pizza to hamburgers to desserts. You’ll even find a local Austin favorite, Kerbey Lane Cafe, open 24 hours. As with most college campus areas, you’ll fit right in if you’re a night owl. There is never a shortage of nightlife whether it be karaoke at Mellow Mushroom or a 2am meal after a night out at Kerbey Lane Cafe, you’ll never be the only one on the street.
