Ridgelea is a small pocket neighborhood in Central Austin, located off Bull Creek between 38th street and 45th street, just east of MoPac. It is very popular for those seeking to live in Central Austin or have their children attend Brykerwoods Elementary School. Minutes from some of Austin’s most loved and popular hot spots, Ridgelea has much to offer its residents. Residents enjoy such spots as the original Kerbey Lane restaurant, Central Market grocery and Teo’s Gelato. Ridgelea is also located in the hospital district and is minutes from The Heart Hospital, Seton Medical Center and several doctors’ offices and medical centers.
Homes in this area date back to the 1940s when two families settled in what were at one time farm lots. Over time the area grew and now reflects the changing face of the area. From stone cottages to wood bungalows, recent developments include many remodeled homes and some newer builds. Some of the new builds have tried to keep with the 1940s and 50s style and include large porches and the soft pastel wood style of that era. Residents rarely feel the need to hop in their car given that its within walking distance to grocery stores, medical facilities, restaurants, shopping and much more.
