About Highland Park West
Highland Park West is located just west of MoPac where FM 2222 turns into Northland Dr. Many are always curious about the little neighborhood that lies just past the elusive FM 2222 curve, and once they have explored past the Balcones Drive boundary they are immensely pleased. The area has some gorgeous views of both the Austin hills and downtown. Yes, you can spot downtown from many of the homes in this community, particularly the homes on Ridge Oak.
About the Highland Park West Homes
Highland Park was developed in the 1950’s, where a few homes were built right at the end of the 40’s. Most of these mid century homes in this area have gone through quite a bit of remodeling to bring in the modern day amenities while keeping the vintage 1950’s home style. However, there are several homes that have gone through extensive remodeling to convert them to a more minimalistic modern style. Because of the variety of remodels, there are homes to fit many home owners style. It’s definitely not a cookie cutter community.
Highland Park West Community Amenities
Highland Park West is near a large variety of shopping and dining. Some of Austin’s favorite spots are right in the heart of this neighborhood. From Chez Zee to Russell’s Bakery to ZuZu’s Mexican Restaurant, there is a variety to offer the home owners within a stones throw of their homes.
A great feature of this neighborhood is its close proximity to much of what Austin has to offer, including downtown, the Arboretum, central Austin, northwest hills and west Austin. It’s one of those neighborhoods that’s a bit of a pivot point. Pivot in any direction and you’re minutes from a great Austin destinations.
Highland Park West Recreation
Highland Park West is a great recreation area. It’s one of those neighborhoods that at any given point you see residents out walking the dog, jogging and more. In fact many cyclists in this area use this as a thoroughfare for their routes. The neighborhood is convenient to many parks including Perry Park, Allen Park and Mount Bonnell Park.
